Monday

Just a little additional note to yesterday's ice skating event. When my friend and I used to go ice skating in Budapest we frequented the largest ice skating rink in the city. It was all artificial ice and hat was the in place to skate.

So, in the winters, after we did our homework we went out and skated. It wasn't the sport it was the hopeless hope of meeting girls. We never succeeded but in the meantime we excersized. The place was usually open from morning until about 10 pm with no interruptions.

They usually fixe the ice during the night and the daily wear and tear just stayed for the day. If we were there for a long time we usually learned where the larger cracks where and tried to avoid them.

But it was good enough for us.

Now here things are different. The place is open from 12 noon until 4:45 pm and every hour and a half they clear the ice and a big Zamboni machine comes in and wets down the ice thus eliminating all the wear and tear. After it is finished the ice is like brand new.

The sad thing is that everybody is used to it and nobody realizes how good they have it.

But hey, this is America!
