Today was the last official day for Abigail at her Middle School. They gave out the report cards, they bid them goodbye and a new chapter for their lives is beginning.

She is understandably scared of high school. New environment, new people who hopefully will form the circle of new friends. Studying will no longer be games and movies but serious work. Maybe the first year might be easier but after that the real work will start. This is all in preparation for college.

Now if she is scared of high school wait until the college time arrives.

But I think a part of childhood just ended today. Her friends are making programs for almost every day. I think they are more together now than in past times. Hopefully some will remain connected in spite of going to different schools.

At this time many of her friends live in this neighborhood. High school friend will be coming from different parts of the City while college friends might be from other parts of the country.

In my time all my friends lived in the same neighborhood making daily contact very easy. We just walked over to each others' houses and that was it.

As a final note I have to add that Abigail is a very bright little girl. Her year end report card is very good and I just hope she will keep maintaining her enthusiasm about studying and her future.
