Friday

As far as I know, and I do admit I don't know everything prom dances are usually held at the end of the high school years nd consequently most of the participants are about 18 years old. I know that there are exceptions and Abigail's school was one of them.

She is now finishing middle school which puts most of the students at the 13-14 year old category. Her school decided to hold a prom dance for the eighth grade class students who are living the school at the end of this term.

Last night was the event for the dance. It was held in a catering hall and lasted from six until ten at night.

Buying the proper dress and shoes was a main event. She really didn't know what she wanted so the originally bought dress was returned and a new one was purchased not long ago. Shoes went a little bit easier but that was also an uphill battle.

Finally, with hair done and all dressed up she did look beautiful.

We drove her to the hall last night and had the opportunity to see most of the other kids.

My final verdict is that 13-14 year old boys act like real jerks. Thinking back I probably acted the same way.

Girls without exception want to look older than they are. Most of them dressed to the nines. Either long gowns or short, really short dresses. Whatever attributes they had they were free to exhibit it. What I enjoyed seeing the most was that most of the girl chose to wear high heel shoes and by the end of the night they were almost crawled on fours because it was so hard to walk in them.

Many of these girls looked anything but fourteen years old. And that is no good. All that does is invite trouble. Where are the parents when these girls are getting dressed?

Fortunately for us Abigail dressed appropriately for her age
